Healing Power of Mushrooms |
 |
This power-packed formulation provides superior support
for the most critical cells in your immune system by strengthening
your immune functions.
Mushrooms are the "fruiting body" of a fine root-like
network called mycelium, which is the actual fungal organism
that can provide incredible medicinal benefits. Mycelium
produces unique compounds, called polysaccharides, that
are currently a major focus of study because of their
potential as a preventive measure and as a first line
treatment of cancers and other degenerative diseases.*
Products containing mycelia are currently on the cutting
edge of new supplement development and are revolutionizing
the medicinal supplement industry. There is ample historical
evidence to suggest that mycelium can help combat even
the worst of diseases that were previously thought to
be untreatable.*

Our immune system plays a vital role in the quality of our life. Everything we do, eat, breathe, touch and think affects our immune system. Factors such as healthy sleep, exercise, nutrition and stress reduction provides the foundation for a strong immune response. We are all born with varied degrees of innate immunity. As we interact with our environment, the immune system becomes more skillful at protecting us. This is called acquired immunity.
The immune system's basic task is to recognize "self" (the body's own cells) and "non-self" (an antigen: a virus, fungus, bacterium or any foreign matter, as well as some toxins). To deal with "non-self" or antigens, the system manufacturers specialized cells, called white blood cells, to recognize infiltrators and eliminate them. During the immune response to an infection, the immune system either destroys the invading microbe or contains the infection in such a way that the invading organism becomes dormant or inactive.
The immune response to infection is extremely complex. It includes an initial response to the offending agent and subsequent "immune memory" that enables the immune system to recognize the infection at a later date.
The strength of the immune system is always a factor whenever there is an illness. Everyone has experienced cycles of more frequent or more severe illness, just as they have also undergone periods of superior health, even when others around them are ill. Our ability to resist illness is a yardstick that measures the strength of the immune system. The strength of our immunity can have a profound impact on whether we actually fall ill, for how long and how intensively.
Most infectious agents get inside our body when we inhale or swallow them. They make their way into the blood and move rapidly through the body. The immune system has its own circulatory system called lymphatic vessels, which allow white blood cells to catch intruders. Other important parts of the immune system includes the tonsils, adenoids, thymus, spleen, lymph nodes, appendix, certain areas of the small intestine and bone marrow.
A compromised immune system or inadequate immune response may lead to serious infections because of the inability of the immune system to respond to or contain the infection. Once exposed, we only get sick if our immune defenses are inadequate. When our reserve defenses are depleted, they can no longer prevent the virus from invading our cells. When our defenses are strong, we are much more able to ward-off illness.
Mushrooms such as reishi, shiitake, maitake and turkey tail
produce abundant amounts of beneficial compounds. This is out
of necessity as they are constantly required to fight off other
fungi and microbes within their natural environments to survive.
These substances, which mushrooms utilize for defense, can greatly
help humans.
Although the chemical profiles of these four mushrooms are quite
complex, the health benefits of these mushrooms are due primarily
to their polysaccharide components, as well as the production
of many other beneficial compounds. Polysaccharide compound
are long starch molecules that spark immune action that can
help protect us against invading germs and abnormal cell divisions.
These molecules help persuade the body to create beneficial
T-cells. These powerful immune fighters destroy microscopic
invaders and may help to slow or stop the production of abnormal
cell growth.
The use of polysaccharides from mushrooms can help boost an individual's immune system, and may result in dramatic recoveries from a host of conditions. The ingredients in this formula:
Effectively boost the immune system
*
Inhibit pathological immune functions in autoimmune disorders*
Reduce histamine release, which is associated with allergic reactions*
Increase antibody production
*
Help fight viruses and tumors* Stimulate an increase in T-cell and interleukin production (powerful immune
fighters)
*
Promote phagocytosis of peritoneal macrophages (help the
body fight bacteria, invaders)*
Short and Long Term Efficacy
If the Mushroom Complex is used as a short-term intervention
(in a crisis situation such as the onset of an infection), results
may be observed within days. Taking half the recommended dosage,
five times a day, can greatly help minimize the severity and
duration of certain infections and acute illnesses (such as
the flu).*
Regular use for two to four weeks of the Mushroom Complex, can
help re-build the immune system, bringing significant long-term
improvements in an individual's immune response. At least two
to four weeks may be needed to successfully boost T-cell and
leukocyte levels in the blood stream, and regular use of the
formulation over time should be sufficient to effectively strengthen
and improve the immune response of even the most immune suppressed
individuals.*

DIRECTIONS:
Take 3-6 capsules daily.

Serving size: 3 capsules Each serving contains:
Turkey Tail (Mycelium) (486 mg) Chinese medical
doctors consider turkey tail a useful treatment for infection
and/or inflammation of the upper respiratory, urinary and digestive
tracts. Turkey Tail is also regarded as curative to liver ailments
and is used to treat general weakness of the immune system.
Mushroom based polysaccharides do not directly attack cancer
cells but produce their anti-tumor effects through increasing
macrophage activity - white blood cells which destroy pathogens
such as bacteria and yeast-infected cells. Macrophages exist
in great numbers in the body and constitute a first line of
defense against disease. Modern clinical research has focused
on using this mushroom to stimulate and strengthen the immune
health of people with cancer. 'Turkey tail' is also recognized
for the ability to alleviate the side effects of chemotherapy
and radiation treatment.
Maitake (Mycelium) (270 mg) Maitake has been
used in traditional Chinese and Japanese medicine to enhance
the immune system and researchers have also indicated that whole
maitake has the ability to regulate blood pressure, glucose,
insulin, and both serum and liver lipids, such as cholesterol,
triglycerides, and phospholipids, and may also be useful for
weight loss. Maitake is rich in minerals (such as potassium,
calcium, and magnesium), various vitamins (B2, D2 and Niacin),
fibers and amino acids. The active constituent in maitake for
enhancing the immune actively has been identified in the late
1980s to be the protein-bound polysaccharide compound, beta-glucan,
an ingredient found especially in the family of polyporaceae.
Shiitake (Mycelium) (243 mg) Shiitake mushrooms
contain a polysaccharide, lentinan, which strengthens the immune
system by increasing T cell function. Their effectiveness in
treating cancer has been reported in a joint study by the Medical
Department of Koibe University and Nippon Kinoko Institute in
Japan. Shiitake also helps with viral and bacterial infections.
In the last 20 years, shiitake mushroom has been subject to
various clinical studies in humans and is thought to be beneficial
for a wide variety of disorders including different types of
cancer, heart disease, hyperlipidemia (including high blood
cholesterol), hypertension, infectious disease, and hepatitis.
The mushroom is used medicinally for diseases involving depressed
immune function (including AIDS), cancer, environmental allergies,
fungal (especially Candida) infection, frequent flu and colds,
bronchial inflammation, and regulating urinary incontinence.
Reishi (Mycelium) (216 mg) Reishi mushrooms
have been popular for at least 2,000 years in the Far East and
were rated number one on ancient Chinese lists of superior medicines,
and were believed to give eternal youth and longevity. A considerable
number of studies in Japan , China , USA , and the UK in the
past 30 years have shown that the consumption of red Reishi
has been linked to the treatment of a vast range of diseases,
common ailments, and conditions. Reishi is primarily composed
of complex carbohydrates called water-soluble polysaccharides,
triterpeniods, proteins and amino acids. Researchers have identified
that water-soluble polysaccharides are the most active element
found in Reishi that have anti-tumor, immune modulating and
blood pressure lowering effects. Another major active ingredient
found in Reishi are triterpenes , called ganoderic acids. Preliminary
studies indicated that ganoderic acids help alleviate common
allergies by inhibiting histamine release, improve oxygen utilization
and improve liver functions. Regular consumption of Reishi can
enhance our body's immune system and improve blood circulation,
thus improving better health conditions. Generally, Reishi is
recommended as an adaptogen, immune modulator, and a general
tonic. However, most of the scientific research that has been
conducted appears to strongly support Reishi's role as a normalizing
substance - a nutritional supplement that can yield medical
benefits through its normalization and regulation of the body's
organs and functions.
Inositol Hexaphosphate IP6 (135 mg) Is also
known as phytic acid, is a compound consisting of the B vitamin
inositol plus six phosphate groups. Found naturally in many
foods, it is a powerful antioxidant that has many positive effects
on the body. Laboratory studies suggest it may help fight cancer,
prevent and treat heart disease, help prevent kidney stones
and liver disease (protects liver by preventing fatty deposits
from accumulating there), and reduce cholesterol levels and
prevent inappropriate formation of blood clots, a major cause
of heart attacks. In-vitro and animal research has shown IP-6
to have significant protective and growth-regulating effects
on various cells and tissues including those of the colon, breast,
and prostate. IP6 inhibits the activity of free radicals in
the body, which slows the type of abnormal cell division associated
with cancer and tumor growth. IP6 contains a substance designated
beta-1,3-D-glucan, which helps to maintain a strong immune system.
